Unruly is a fast-paced, exciting company to work for and it hasn't lost its nimble, quirky startup nature despite being acquired by a massive corporation. Employees are treated well (great benefits, office atmosphere, and perks) and both the week-long training for new employees and yearly meetups at the London HQ are just plain fun. Unruly is a global company, but it does a great job of bringing people together (regular "all hands" meetings with all of the offices and weekly newsletters explaining what went on in each region).My personal experience - the interview process was extensive but progressed quickly (I even got to talk to the CTO). I gained a ton of valuable experience on the job and generally loved coming into work every day. My co-workers and team members were all fantastic, talented people and I enjoyed working with them tremendously (a few of them are still good friends). I particularly enjoyed the weekly email where employees could anonymously submit praise for others; it always a pleasant surprise to get a bit of extra appreciation for helping somebody out.
단점:Five hour time difference between New York and London can sometimes be an impediment. My team was all located in London, so I only had them for half of the day; even still, thanks to IM and frequent meetings with my team and manager, I felt very connected to them despite being thousands of miles away.Not working at HQ meant I couldn't take my career much further (although this is not the case for most other positions, especially as the company continues to expand).

People are great (and knowedgable), the brand name carries a lot of weight, pay is in line with the industry average and the perks were appreciated. Unrultfest was always a blast.
단점:They are strong and respected in the Market, but when they got accuired by News Corp. you started to see the inevitable change from a start-up to a more corporate office feel with the new President they brought in. A lot of people left because of it, but hopfully that has changed for the better.

Awesome culture. Great benefits. Company clearly cares about you and your success. Really great technology team and strong product. The company is very agile and keeps up with the market. Everyone who works there is respectful and collaborative. I really enjoyed working there!
단점:Strong global company, so it can be a challenge to communicate around the globe but Unruly does it pretty well.

Review is ProDev specific. It has been a tough year. The company had to downsize as we have very high targets to meet and weren't quite cutting it. But that has improved greatly. It wasn't handled in the best way but many things have improved since then. We have new experienced team leads who line manage and serve as another communication interface to the business. We've also created a tech lead role to handle... promotion and implementation of the overall technical vision, architecture and technical practices - this has helped the load on the previous team leads who did both jobs. They've also created new roles i.e. a career ladder(by request) so that people have something to work towards. We have a mentorship program in place to help you find someone who can help you with things you want to work on. It's also a great way to share your knowledge - all in work time. We have 2 video/conference talk sessions where we can catch up on your conference viewing and talk about relevant topics. We have tech talks where you can show off your skills / interesting projects/ practice for conferences. A conference budget to help you get to at least one conference in a year- which can be quite pricey. You can use this money towards conference travel and food as well. Flexible working with core hours 10am - 4pm - this has really helped people who have kids or travel far. You can also work from home - team dependent. We don't have 20% time anymore but we do let people work on research, training and talks in work time. The reason being is that we struggled to keep the 20% learning relevant, so now we just allow time for learning when someone needs some time to research something, when it comes up. Unruly is the only place I've worked where they actively adjusted my salary up because it was too low! We're still an XP company. Unruly grew too fast last year. This made it hard to teach everyone how to work the 'way we work'. This was a mistake. We've learnt. We still stand by the core XP values and actively use practices like TDD, Pairing and Mobbing. We're very open to trying new ways of working / tools / etc.
단점:If you're looking for a place with stable hierarchy that tells you how to work, this place is not for you. Unruly is not a corporate. It's also not a startup anymore. We're going through the growth pains that come along with getting bigger and that doesn't suit everyone. As with getting new people in, there have been some teething issues with having the above (mentorship, flexible working) applied but this is... being worked out. We have very strong people who believe in our mission to be a great place to work and learn.

Although Unruly has gone through some big changes this year the company still remains a great place to work. The people make the place, and it has some great perks (amazing office space, free breakfasts, weekly drinks, and regular socials). Coming from a very corporate organisation to Unruly was a breath of fresh air, and I always feel like my opinion is listened to, and valued.
단점:The company continues to go through changes (transitioning from a Start-Up to Scale-Up) and as a result, a number of people who were not ready for this have moved on, however, Unruly still manages to retain and continues to hire amazing people.

Hipster office perks - breakfast, dogs, ping pong
단점:Management are non supportive, lacking direction and leadership. A huge attrition of staff, due to cultural decline (no belief in the company values anymore), poor pay, poor progression for most people. Ultimately a really negative environment, where there is more talk about what's wrong with the company, than productivity in getting things done. We're not market leading anymore, and we haven't got a great story to... tell these days.

단점:Unruly moves very quickly so that can be unsettling if you haven't experienced it before but it's inspiring once you get the hang of it. Plus it's really hard work (not in terms of length of hours worked) but in terms of high expectations

단점:I feel very sad to have left what was once a really great place to work and leave a poor review. I feel at this stage it would be irresponsible not to leave a review that highlights chronic mismanagement, poor leadership and a culture that is disappearing before our eyes. It's no longer a fun or rewarding place to work - professionally or personally. Maybe it will get better in the future (and this could even happen... quite quickly) but right now I couldn't recommend working here.

단점:* management has absolutely no idea what they are doing and it shows * multiple sudden redundancies, cost-cutting and psychotic leadership killed moral and caused a number of people to leave * limited career progression opportunities * domain is convoluted and not very exciting * tech stack is old, progress is slow and people are unmotivated * xp values now seen as optional * startup attitude/memes/geeky... atmosphere mixed with Newscorp/corporate influences can literally give you whiplash

- The coworkers were great - usual startup perks including beer on fridays, flexi time, dogs in the office, free breakfast, ping pong table - mostly didn't have to work overtime (at least not in the department I was in)
단점:- change in management staff caused confusion, management now simply not up to the task and are not being transparent - clueless CEO, always managing to offend people in company meetings - not great salaries when compared with other companies - stressful environment - perks taken away from workers - important information delivered to us by way of memes - think cheerful animals telling you to work harder -... almost dystopian - straddling the line between being a startup and a big corporation - taking the worst bits of both - legally minimum pension - the domain is incredibly boring and convoluted

I could have listed a ton of pros and no cons a few years ago.... I guess I can say the industry is fun.
단점:Senior management poorly manages staff and their negative attitude filters down to the rest of the company. Poor salaries. Declining culture. People aren't motivated nor valued. Reviews attack people's character but no desire to support people in their goals or ambitions.

Nice office space, flexible hours, interesting field.
단점:Complete lack of direction for product and technology, incredibly short sighted strategy. The tech stack is outdated (in some areas over a decade out of date) and new joiners were "educated" when they tried to suggest any change that would better align the company with industry standards and generally agreed good practices. Most of the more experienced and knowledgeable developers decided to leave the company in... the beginning of the year driven by the frustration of not being allowed to bring the company to the modern ages. Very political environment. Exposing areas where there is room for improvement is seen as a negative trait, to be successful you need to praise Unruly above anything else you ever saw.

1. Great benefits. Rolling out of initiatives to promote a work-life balance. I.e flexible working hours. Earlier knock-off times on fridays during the summer and winter seasons. 2. 단점:1. Slow career progression. Favours years of service over performance and quality of work. 2. Poor communication top down from executives to ground-level teams 3. Ineffective relaying of new processes and innovations from HQ in London to other teams from the global offices. 4. Uncompetitive salary packages. 5. Team leaders and managers lack training and experience in running and managing teams.

Some of the best people i've worked with and got to know! Management is honest and takes good care of its people - there's all sorts of policies in place to look after the employees well- being. The organisation actively lends help and work through issues together.
단점:The only downside if I'm being nitpicky is that the HQ is based in London so time difference comes into play. Also, it feels like the only way to perform at the highest level would be moving to london.

Pair programming is a great way to learn from others, I left better than I came in. XP process taught me a lot about delivering incremental value rather than releasing lots of code. Lots of free time to learn and experiment as you get 20% learning time. Lots of personal investment as you get a conference budget you often struggle to use up. Because of the pairing you never work long hours.
단점:Requirements and focus often change on a weekly basis meaning you don't get much done and you often end up changing what you wrote just a short while ago. A lot of technical debt in older code that you need to change and support means it often take a week to do what should take half a day. Not much room to change the developer culture as older developers who have been in the company longer will always have a... stronger voice than new people. Everyone is expected to be a generalist, whether they want to or not and wether it's good for the product or not. Pairing often prevents developers from being entrepreneurial and independent.
